The pictures below were taken on the 6th and 7th of February 2007. They feature residential building sites in the 'Sunshine Coast', 'Brisbane' and the 'Gold Coast'. There is one common feature to nearly all the sites and that is that most builders display signs warning of 'Danger', but unfortunately most do nothing to protect the Public 'especially children' from that DANGER! Is a sign sufficient to prevent the access of children onto Dangerous Sites? Anyone who has children or has raised them knows the answer to that one, a fence may not keep all children out, but a deterrent is better than none at all. |
Queensland Workplace Health and Safety are more than aware that there is a safety issue here and have issued alerts in the past, the following text is an exert from an alert issued in December 2005 by Judy Bertarm. "Queensland’s workplace health and safety laws require principal contractors to ensure that workplace activities at the workplace are safe and without risk of injury or illness to members of the public at or near the workplace,” Ms Bertram said. |
The question has to be asked, is Queensland Workplace Health and Safety incapable or unable to ensure that Health and Safety Laws and Regulations are adhered to? Take a look at the pictures below and you decide! Compare these pictures with those in the NSW Gallery, they represent a stark contrast between attitude towards public safety. |
